Could you make it as a TV drama writer?

Regular readers of this blog will have heard me singing the praises of Adrian Mead's TV drama seminars. There are a lot of short courses out there you can pay for and to many of them tell you things you don't need to know. Adrian's seminars are different. He assumes you can write, that you've got talent and the drive to make it as a professional. Instead of boring you with the usual mantras about story structure, The Poets and the hero's journey, he talks about breaking in and building a career. He tells you the steps that can secure an agent [if you have talent, drive and can write]. Adrian's a working professional with his ear to the ground, so there's a veracity and a currency to what he says, too.

Up until now, you had to live in Scotland or travel to Scotland if you wanted to be at one of Adrian's seminars. Well, here's some good news for all you folks south of the border. [Sorry, just been watching an episode of Friday Night Lights and that y'll talk is mighty infectious.] In March Adrian is staging one of his seminars in London, in collaboration with Initialise Films. It's £85 for the day, including VAT and lunch, but you can get a ten per cent early discount if you book before February 10. Trust me, it's worth every damn penny. If you want to know more, email info@meadkerr.com or phone 0131 554 4539 [within the UK]. A free 15-page pdf of career-building tips is also available from that email address, whether or not you do one of Adrian's seminars...
