Why alien ladies loved James T Kirk: his ride...

Every year Comic-Con hosts a panel when people argue what was the best [fictional] spaceship ever. This year noted astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson grabbed the microphone to offer his opinion. [Thanks to Kay Reindl and her wonderfully provocative blog Seriocity for the heads-up on this.]

Downton Abbey & Star Trek: Voyager - look-a-likes?

Revealed at last! The shocking true story of what happened to Neelix from Star Trek: Voyager after that show ended - a freak transporter accident sent him through a wormhole in space and time, rewriting his DNA and gender. Neelix now lives on early 20th Century Earth, using culinary skills to disguise his/her true identity. [Knew that cataract operation was a cover story!] Via @caseymckinnon

Genius: 56 simultaneous Star Trek eps

A wonderful wheeze this, which proves how much longer an hour-long US TV drama used to be [closer to 50 minutes than 40, which most shows are today]. I recommend jumping 49 minutes in and you get a right old Copland-esque cacophony of clashing theme tunes. As Spock would say, "fascinating!"

Genius: Kirk/Spock animated slash video

Featuring Pulp's Common People, as performed by William Shatner and Joe Jackson, produced by Ben Folds. Utter genius all round. Enjoy!
