Endeavour: Barrington Pheloung's new Morse score

Here's a clip of composer Barrington Pheloung and orchestra at Abbey Road Studios recording the opening scene score for Endeavour, the Inspector Morse prequel that aired earlier this week. Pheloung has been a constant on the various TV incarnations of Morse and Lewis for 25 years, making his music an intrinsic part of the shows.

Was it my imagination or does the music for the first Endeavour sound tentative and missing the famous morse code tapping?
Then as the character is developed, the music becomes stronger and the tapping returns. Or was I just not paying attention enough to the music?

Interesting observation - certainly the beloved Morse theme is held back as long as possible in the pilot. I'll be rewatching it closely for my next edition of The Complete Inspector Morse, will listen out for that... Thanks!
