"Literary fiction ... nothing more than a genre itself"

Great interview in today's Observer with writer Neil Cross, who was Booker Prize long-listed in 2004. He's also the creator of smash hit TV drama Luther. My favourite quote: "It's perceived as an accolade to be published as a 'literary' writer, but, actually, it's pompous and it's fake. Literary fiction is often nothing more than a genre in itself."
