Praise be: Friday Night Lights gets 2nd season

Good news, y'all! The Futon Critic is reporting the welcome news that US TV drama Friday Night Lights is getting a second season pickup from NBC. I've been gushing about FNL for months, but this award-winning show's low ratings have left it on the edge of cancellation. Happily, Coach Taylor, Tami, Saracen, Julie and all the others will be back in the fall. Good call, NBC.

In other news, Futon Critic is also reporting The Bionic Woman revival starring Michelle Ryan from EastEnders has been picked up for the new season. Expect more reports about this next week as the US network unveil their Fall '07 schedules in an annual ritual known as the upfronts. Whispers have it that perennail yet much loved under-performer Veronica Mars is getting a fourth season, but jumping ahead several years to see sassy Veronica training with the FBI. Can't wait!

Fantastic news!

FNL is easily the best written series to debut in the last 12 months - and it never gets a mention here in Oz.
