DAILY STAR DREDD: THE BLACKWOOD INCIDENT • WEEK SEVEN
Day One
1. Dredd places the unstable prototype on the ground by a sign for Blackwood State Park - A Beautiful Place to Visit! The counter on the device reads 01:30.
BOX:
IN 1998, A TIME IMPLOSION IS ABOUT TO TURN BLACKWOOD STATE PARK INTO A RADIOACTIVE WASTELAND...
DREDD:
ONLY NINETY SECONDS LEFT!
2. Dredd rides his bike back out on to the highway, Coster sat behind him.
DREDD:
THIS IS GONNA BE CLOSE!
3. The pair accelerate down the tree-lined highway, begin to 'port out.
DREDD:
ACTIVATING TELEPORTATION - NOW!
Day Two
1. Same angle as previous panel, but now Dredd & Coster 'port into 2120.
DREDD:
IT WORKED - BUT WHERE ARE WE? AND WHEN?
2. They stop on the highway - now surrounded by petrified forest again.
DREDD:
JUDGE DREDD TO CONTROL - ANYBODY THERE?
JAG BLN:
CONTROL TO DREDD - WELCOME BACK TO 2120! PROFESSOR COSTER WANTS TO SEE YOU.
3. Dredd looks behind him at a very unhappy Todd Coster.
DREDD:
ON MY WAY. HAVE A CATCH WAGON MEET ME AT THE BLACKWOOD RESEARCH FACILITY.

Day Three
1. Cut to the central control room of the Blackwood Research Facility. Dredd angrily pointing at Professor Coster, who smiles at him.
DREDD:
YOU'RE SAYING THIS EMERGENCY WAS A FAKE?
PROF:
NOT EXACTLY. WE KNEW THAT TIME TRAVELLERS CAUSED THE BLACKWOOD INCIDENT, HENCE THE SECRECY ABOUT OUR WORK HERE...
2. Just the Prof, happily explaining it all.
PROF:
...WE JUST WEREN'T SURE BY WHOM OR HOW THE INCIDENT WAS INITIATED.

3. Dredd gets his retaliation in, putting the cuffs on the Prof.
DREDD:
WELL, TRY THIS DESTINY, PROFESSOR COSTER.

Day Four
1. Establishing shot of Blackwood Police Station, dawn.
BLN (bldg):
LOOK, IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, ASK THE TWO COPS - THEY SAW THE WHOLE THING!
BLN (bldg):
WE DID. THEY DENY ALL KNOWLEDGE.
2. Cut inside to the interview where Mortimer rants and raves wildly.
MORT:
BUT THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!

3. Mort holds out his wrist, on which his watch is frozen at 1 A.M.
MORT:
SEE? MY WATCH IS FROZEN AT THE EXACT MOMENT IT TOOK PLACE!
Day Five
1. Cut to Blackwood State Park, where the cop car is zooming down the tree-lined highway at maximum speed. A massive explosion of light is chasing the car from behind as the time implosion engulfs the forest etc.
BOX:
"WE MUST HAVE BEEN DOING MORE THAN 100 WHEN THE TIME IMPLOSION HAPPENED.
2. Mortimer is looking through the back window of the cop car as the white light hits it. He has his hands up in front of his face for protection.
BOX:
"IT WAS A MIRACLE WE GOT OUT OF THERE ALIVE. I MADE THE MISTAKE OF LOOKING BACK."
3. Cut to the interview room. Mortimer holds his bandaged hands up in front of his face, to demonstrate what happened to them.
MORT:
THAT'S HOW I GOT THESE BURNS ON MY HANDS.
Day Six
1. The unseen pair of questioners stand up, leaving the pleading Mort.
BLN (off):
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, MR MORTIMER.
MORT:
YOU BELIEVE ME, DON'T YOU?
2. The pair walk out the door, their backs to us. Two men in white with a strait-jacket advance on the whimpering Mortimer.
MORT:
DON'T YOU?!?
3. The pair walk off down a corridor away from us. They wear long trench coats. They're from the FBI. You figure it out.
FOX:
TIME TRAVELLING, IMPLODING TELEPORTATION DEVICES, SOME GUY CALLED JUDGE DREDD.
DANA:
AND I THOUGHT I'D HEARD EVERYTHING...
