JUDGE DREDD: THE BLACKWOOD INCIDENT • WEEK FIVE
Day One
1. Dredd subdues Coster with a vicious uppercut.
BOX:
1998. FUTURE COP JUDGE DREDD IS FIGHTING A TIME-TRAVELLING FUGITIVE IN BLACKWOOD, USA.
DREDD:
NOBODY ESCAPES JUSTICE, PUNK - NOT EVEN BY GOING 122 YEARS INTO THE PAST!
2. Dredd grabs hold of the fallen fugitive while activating his teleporter.
DREDD:
SINCE THE UNSTABLE TELEPORTER IS SAFELY BACK IN THE FUTURE, I'M TAKING YOU BACK THERE TOO!
3. Dredd looks dismayed when his prototype doesn't function.
DREDD:
DROKK! THE PROTOTYPE ISN'T WORKING - WE'RE STRANDED IN 1998!
Day Two
1. Dredd examines the prototype while Coster looks on, smiling wryly.
DREDD:
THE TELEPORTER MUST HAVE BEEN DAMAGED WHEN WE WERE FIGHTING!
COSTER:
HOW IRONIC! THE GREAT LAWMAN COMES UNSTUCK!
2. Dredd points out his Lawgiver at Coster.
DREDD:
ENOUGH LIP, FUGITIVE - YOU'RE STILL UNDER ARREST!
BLN (off):
THAT'S FUNNY...
3. Two 20th Century cops, FRANZ & SMITS, point their guns at Dredd. Franz looks like Dennis Franz in NYPD, Smits looks like Jimmy Smits.
FRANZ:
I WAS ABOUT TO SAY THE SAME THING TO YOU!
Day Three
1. Dredd stands with his hands up in the air, guarded by Franz & Smits.
DREDD:
YOU'RE MAKING A BIG MISTAKE.
FRANZ:
IS THAT RIGHT? WELL, ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS AND WE'LL SEE WHO'S RIGHT AND WHO'S WRONG.
2. Franz holds up Dredd's Lawgiver.
FRANZ:
WHERE YOU FROM? WHAT SORT OF SIDEARM IS THIS?
DREDD:
YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE ME IF I TOLD YOU. DON'T USE THE LAWGIVER, IT'LL BLOW YOUR HAND OFF.
3. Franz turns to Smits, getting all sarcastic.
FRANZ:
YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID - THAT EXPLAINS IT ALL!

Day Four
1. Coster spins a yarn to Franz, perhaps Dredd & Smits visible behind.
COSTER:
I GOT STOPPED BY THIS FREAK, SAYS HIS NAME'S JUDGE DREDD. SAYS HE WANTS TO TAKE ME BACK TO THE FUTURE!
2. Coster points at the prototype belt on Dredd's waist. Franz smiles.
COSTER:
THE WEIRDO STOLE THAT BELT OFF ME, IT'S A TOY FOR MY KID. HE SAYS IT'S A TIME MACHINE!
FRANZ:
I THOUGHT NUTCASES LIKE THAT ONLY HAPPENED IN NEW YORK, NOT HERE IN BLACKWOOD!
3. Franz snaps his fingers at Dredd.
FRANZ:
OKAY, JUDGE DREDD, GIMME THE GUY'S TOY BELT!
DREDD:
I'M AFRAID I CAN'T DO THAT!
Day Five
1. Dredd explains the plot, gesturing to the countdown on the globe.
DREDD:
THIS IS A HIGHLY UNSTABLE TELEPORTATION AND TIME TRAVEL PROTOTYPE.

UNLESS I GET IT BACK TO THE FUTURE, THE DEVICE WILL SELF DESTRUCT IN LESS THAN 15 MINUTES!
2. Franz and Smits look at each other, eyebrows raised.
NO DIALOGUE.
3. Franz turns back towards Dredd.
FRANZ:
THEY'VE GOT A WHOLE TEAM OF HEADSHRINKERS WORKING ON YOUR CASE, HAVEN'T THEY?
Day Six
1. Franz and Dredd face off. Behind Franz, a faint shape begins appearing.
FRANZ:
OKAY MISTER - SORRY, JUDGE DREDD - IF THAT BELT TELEPORTS YOU THROUGH TIME, PROVE IT.
DREDD:
I CAN'T...
2. Franz starts turning round as Mortimer teleports in behind him.
DREDD:
...BUT THE GUY BEHIND YOU CAN.
FRANZ:
YEAH, RIGHT!
3. Franz is suitably shocked by Mortimer's arrival.
BOX:
"I RETURNED FROM THE YEAR 2120 JUST IN TIME TO SAVE THE FUTURE."
FRANZ: WHAT THE - -?!
